Castelfalfi, Florence 2013 – 2017
In the site, according to the directives contained in the Urban Plan “Toscana Resort Castelfalfi”, the existing volumetry has been demolished and then has been carried out a residential complex composed of several building units, delegating to the eastern portion the role of “environmental recovery”. The Fagnoni & Associates studio has been part of a design team engaged to define the design of such spaces, in particular by treating in detail the external arrangements of the various parts that make it up: private gardens, road and parking features, green spaces inside the intervention area and the surrounding greenery. The peculiarity of the intervention lies in the fact that while being a private area, it will have to meet a need for public use, leaving free travel on roads and on local routes, limiting the usability of the private spaces with hedges and low walls without the use of urban-like fences. The materials used for external pavements, imagined in continuity between the various plots, although with substantial differentiations, start from the assumption that such pathways, if structured, are visually close to existing farmyard tracks.
