Castelfalfi, Florence 2014 – 2017
The rehabilitation project of the area called “La Collina” lies within an important normative framework in which all the interventions foreseen by the property are “systemized”: the Urban Plan named “Toscana Resort Castelfalfi”, approved by the municipality of Montaione. “La Collina” area is situated on a local road, easy to reach, in the western portion of the property, near the estate border. Over the past 150 years, this area has undergone profound transformations, and the scenario that was at the base of the design could only take into account this evolution process and aim for its improvement and relocation in the Castelfalfi landscape with a virtuous conversion of process by assigning an identity to the new village. In particular, the project involves on one side the restoration of the existing building 1A with the maintenance of its compact plant and the main architectural features , and on the other side the construction of the new 1B building which takes over the bulk of the existing complex, in total 7 dwelling units. Each ground floor apartment has a paved space with a wooden pergola for climbing plants, while the two upstairs units have the option of introducing a terrace integrated to the porch below.
